WHO KNEW? Interstate All Battery Center

 

Has anyone else ever had a tough time finding a battery for something?  Then if you do find the battery, you have difficulty putting it in?  Watches, key fobs, remotes, especially!

I spent several hours this past week trying to find a battery for a Timex watch.  I went to four jewelry stores, Target, then Kohl’s, to name just a few local sources.  I looked online as a last resort because I needed someone to open the back up to install the battery too.  Seems that no one does that anymore—except for Medawar Jewelers.  They were willing to put the battery in but did not have the size I needed. They could not order one for me because it required a Lithium-Ion battery, which cannot be shipped by air, so they could not guarantee when I would get it.  I appreciated their candor.

So out of frustration, my husband and I headed to Sweetwater’s Donut Shop on Stadium. Down the road my husband saw the Interstate All Battery Center. “They sell batteries, and you have nothing to lose by just walking in” he chided.  Since he was buying the donuts, I decided to humor him and keep my thoughts to myself.

 I walked in and met two helpful salespersons. The number of different batteries on display was overwhelming (I was truly expecting just auto and flashlight batteries). I told them that I was just in there to humor my tired husband (they laughed) and that I was looking for a battery for an old Timex watch. They both chuckled and told me they get that “all the time” and that they just happened to have what I needed—and they would be happy to put it in for me!

 While they were putting in the watch battery, I looked around the storefront.  They do seem to have any type and size of battery anyone could want.  Most they will even put in for you—including car key fobs. They have a kiosk dedicated to hearing aid batteries, and said they are one of the few things they cannot put in for their customers.  They did clarify that most people can “easily” replace them on their own without any special tools.

 I will be returning with a couple of key fobs and again the next time I need a watch battery replaced.  Their prices and service were great, and they were so nice to talk with too.  It made my day!
