Many of us recently enjoyed a visit to the KPL Mobile Library when it made its first stop in Leisure Pointe on June 28th. Great news--the KPL staff just confirmed with our property management that starting August 8th, they will be on site the second Thursday of every month from 2:00-3:00 PM. If interest continues, they will be following the schedule into 2025. If the KPL needs to cancel for severe weather, emergency or staffing shortage, we will be notified in advance.
Keep in mind, you can return borrowed books and tapes through the KPL Mobile Library too!
There is not a specific book return slot on the Mobile
Library van, but onsite library assistants can take them from you when you
enter. Angela and Derek are the primary
staff members assigned to our route.
They are friendly and willing to help with questions and requests. Occasionally you may see Jill, Amy, and/or
Christopher, so stop in to say hello if you happen to be out on Mobile
Library days.
Want to request a specific book, CD, DVD, or audiobook before you visit? Allow for a few weeks, longer if it is by a popular author, or it is a newly published book (as there may be a waiting list). The best way to order something is to send an email to MBL@kpl.gov . Be sure to include your name, library card number, and a phone number.
Do not have a library card? They are easy to obtain if you live in the county. Ask about one when you visit the Mobile Library. You can also visit any KPL location to apply for one. You will need a photo ID and proof of your current address to obtain a card. If you have internet access you can also apply online at:
Sign Up — Kalamazoo Public Library (kpl.gov)
If you have vision impairments or are not an avid reader, ask for a book on tape or CD. It is easy to listen to favorite authors and about certain topics. Books on tape are also great to listen to when you travel.
Have family or grandchildren visiting? If they have a valid card, they are welcome to check out books too. They keep a selection of books for children onboard too.
